What RapNet Member Search Behavior Reveals About the Diamond Market in 2025

Share:

With 2025 behind us, it is worth taking a clear look at how the market actually behaved. Not through forecasts or commentary, but through actions. One of the most reliable ways to do that is by looking at what RapNet members searched for throughout the year.

Search behavior reflects real intent. It shows where professionals spent their time, what inventory they were trying to source, and where demand consistently showed up. When viewed at scale, those patterns become hard to ignore.

Round Diamonds Still Carries the Market

Round diamonds continue to do what they have always done. They carry the market.

In 2025, round diamonds generated 21,789,779 searches, up from 17,318,697 the year before. That is a +25.8% year-over-year increase.

When buyers need depth, pricing clarity, and confidence, round is still where they start.

Oval Diamonds Are No Longer a Secondary Shape

If one category clearly changed position in 2025, it was oval.

Oval searches rose from 1,877,686 in 2024 to 2,669,103 in 2025, a +42.1% increase. At this level of activity, oval is no longer filling gaps in assortments. It is a core shape that buyers expect to source with the same consistency and transparency as round.

Princess cuts also gained ground, rising from 773,234 searches in 2024 to 1,005,403 in 2025 (+30.0%). Emerald and pear followed closely. Emerald increased from 1,228,489 to 1,563,109 (+27.2%) and pear increased from 1,569,009 to 1,987,431 (+26.7%).

Buyers Focused on What Moves

Beyond shape, the category-level results show that demand clustered around well-defined commercial combinations, particularly within the 1.00–1.49 carat range paired with higher color and clarity grades.

These are not speculative searches. They reflect inventory categories that can be priced, sold, and replenished without unnecessary friction.

Liquidity Concentrated, Not Fragmented

Despite the breadth of inventory available on RapNet, demand did not spread evenly across the market.

A small group of shapes accounted for a disproportionate share of total search activity. In 2025, round, oval, and princess alone accounted for 25,464,285 searches out of 29,014,825 total searches across all shapes. That is 87.8% of all searches.

This kind of concentration matters. It shows where attention and liquidity are most heavily focused.

What These Trends Point To in 2026

The patterns from 2025 suggest that the market is entering 2026 with clear priorities.

Demand continues to concentrate around shapes and size ranges with proven liquidity. Oval has firmly joined the core mix. Round remains the anchor. Princess, emerald, and pear continue to command meaningful attention.

If these behaviors continue, 2026 is likely to reward depth over breadth. Sellers with consistent inventory in high-liquidity categories will have an advantage. Buyers will continue to compete most aggressively where transparency and access matter most.

RapNet will remain where those decisions play out in real time through search behavior, price comparison, and active trading.
